PRODUCT INFORMATION
Epilease Capsules contain potassium bromide and are indicated for use as an anti-epileptic treatment in dogs. Potassium bromide is commonly prescribed as adjunctive therapy in cases of idiopathic epilepsy, particularly where seizure control with phenobarbital alone is insufficient or where phenobarbital is not tolerated.
See also Libromide or vetbromide.
Potassium bromide works by stabilising neuronal membranes and reducing excessive electrical activity in the brain. By increasing seizure threshold, it helps reduce the frequency and severity of epileptic episodes when administered consistently as directed by a veterinary surgeon.
Epilease may be prescribed for dogs requiring long-term management of epilepsy. Blood monitoring may be recommended by your veterinary surgeon to ensure appropriate serum bromide levels and to optimise seizure control.
This product is a prescription-only veterinary medicine (POM-V).
Dosage, frequency of administration, and any loading protocols are determined by the prescribing veterinary surgeon and provided on the dispensing label. It is important that dosing is consistent and that treatment is not altered without veterinary advice.
