PRODUCT INFORMATION

Tessie Oral Solution for Situational Anxiety in Dogs

Tessie Oral Solution 0.3mg/ml for Dogs is a prescription-only veterinary medicine containing tasipimidine, used for the alleviation of situational anxiety and fear in dogs associated with noise events or owner departure.

Tessie may be prescribed for predictable stressful situations such as fireworks, thunderstorms, travel, visitors or separation-related anxiety, where a veterinary surgeon considers treatment appropriate.

What is Tessie used for in dogs?

Tessie is used to reduce signs of acute situational anxiety and fear in dogs. These may include:

  • Pacing or restlessness
  • Trembling
  • Panting
  • Vocalisation
  • Hiding
  • Destructive behaviour
  • Difficulty settling
  • Other behavioural or physical signs of fear

It is intended for use around specific stressful events rather than as a general treatment for all forms of anxiety.

Tessie for fireworks and noise anxiety

Tessie may be prescribed for dogs affected by noise-related anxiety, including fear associated with fireworks and thunderstorms.

The oral solution can be given before an anticipated stressful event or when the first signs of anxiety are noticed, according to your veterinary surgeon's instructions.

How quickly does Tessie work?

Tessie begins to take effect within approximately one hour of administration and provides relief for at least three hours.

The duration and response can vary between individual dogs. Treatment should always be given according to the dose and timing prescribed by your veterinary surgeon.

How does Tessie work?

Tessie contains tasipimidine, an alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist.

By acting on receptors within the central nervous system, tasipimidine reduces noradrenaline release and helps decrease the physiological and behavioural signs associated with fear and anxiety.

How is Tessie given?

Tessie is administered orally using the supplied dosing syringe. The prescribed dose is based on the dog's body weight.

Tessie is typically given approximately one hour before the expected trigger event or owner departure. It may also be administered when the first signs of anxiety are noticed, according to veterinary instructions.

Dogs should not be fed from one hour before until one hour after treatment, as food may delay absorption. A small treat may be used to assist administration if required.

Tessie may be administered up to three times within a 24-hour period, with at least three hours between doses, where prescribed.

Refrigerated veterinary medicine

Tessie is a refrigerated veterinary medicine and is shipped using insulated cold-chain packaging to help maintain appropriate transport temperatures during delivery.

Please refrigerate the medication promptly on arrival and follow the storage instructions supplied with the product.
