PRODUCT INFORMATION

For the management of ocular surface conditions where mucolytic therapy is indicated.

Stromease 25mg/ml Eye Drops is a prescription-only veterinary medicine containing acetylcysteine. It is licensed for use in dogs and cats where excessive mucus interferes with normal tear film function or ocular healing.

Acetylcysteine acts as a mucolytic by breaking disulfide bonds within mucus glycoproteins, reducing viscosity and allowing removal of thick or tenacious discharge. It is commonly prescribed in cases such as keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye), corneal ulceration, and chronic ocular surface disease where mucus accumulation contributes to irritation or delayed healing.

Stromease does not contain an antibiotic or corticosteroid. It is used as supportive therapy and may be prescribed alongside tear stimulants, lubricants or other ophthalmic medications as directed by a veterinary surgeon. Ongoing treatment should be monitored to ensure continued safety and effectiveness.

Stromease should only be used under veterinary supervision and supplied against a valid veterinary prescription.

Further information, including contraindications and potential side effects, can be found in the product data sheet available here.
