PRODUCT INFORMATION
Metrobactin Tablets for Dogs and Cats are a prescription-only veterinary medicine containing metronidazole. They are flavoured tablets licensed for dogs and cats and are available in 250mg and 500mg strengths.
What is Metrobactin?
Metrobactin contains metronidazole, an antimicrobial and antiprotozoal medicine. It is licensed for the treatment of gastrointestinal tract infections caused by susceptible Giardia and Clostridium species, and infections of the urogenital tract, oral cavity, throat and skin caused by susceptible obligate anaerobic bacteria.
Available strengths
- 250mg – 250mg metronidazole per tablet.
- 500mg – 500mg metronidazole per tablet.
The tablets have a cross-shaped break line and can be divided into two or four equal parts. Vetalia supplies Metrobactin as individual tablets so the quantity dispensed can match the veterinary prescription.
Administration
Metrobactin is administered orally. Give the strength, dose, frequency and duration stated by your veterinary surgeon and on the veterinary prescription. Antimicrobial medicines should be used responsibly.
Prescription requirements
Metrobactin is a POM-V (Prescription Only Medicine – Veterinarian). A valid veterinary prescription is required before Vetalia can dispense this medicine.
