Lenivia Solution for Injection is a prescription-only veterinary medicine for the alleviation of osteoarthritis-associated pain in dogs.

Lenivia contains izenivetmab, a monoclonal antibody that targets nerve growth factor (NGF), a key mediator involved in osteoarthritic pain.

Lenivia is administered by subcutaneous injection once every three months, with the appropriate strength selected according to the dog's body weight.

This product is a prescription-only veterinary medicine (POM-V) and, once available, can only be supplied against a valid veterinary prescription.

Available strengths and pack sizes

Lenivia will be available in the following strengths, each supplied as a pack containing 2 × 1ml vials:

  • Lenivia 0.5mg/ml Solution for Injection — 2 × 1ml
  • Lenivia 1mg/ml Solution for Injection — 2 × 1ml

What Lenivia is used for

Lenivia is used for the alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.

Osteoarthritis is a progressive degenerative joint disease that commonly affects ageing dogs but may also occur following joint injury or developmental joint disease.

Dogs with osteoarthritis may show signs such as stiffness, reduced activity, difficulty rising, reluctance to jump or behavioural changes associated with chronic pain.

Treatment focuses on controlling pain and improving mobility to help affected dogs maintain a good quality of life.

How Lenivia works

Lenivia contains izenivetmab, a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets nerve growth factor (NGF).

NGF plays an important role in transmitting pain signals associated with osteoarthritis. By binding to NGF, izenivetmab helps interrupt this pain signalling pathway and reduce osteoarthritis-associated pain.

Administration

Lenivia is administered as a subcutaneous injection once every three months.

The appropriate strength is selected according to the dog's body weight and the treatment prescribed by the veterinary surgeon.

Lenivia may be administered by the dog's primary care veterinary practice.

In some cases, and at the discretion of the prescribing veterinary surgeon, Lenivia may be administered at home following appropriate instruction.

Needles and syringes are not supplied with Lenivia. If the prescribing veterinary surgeon is happy for the injection to be administered at home, the necessary injection equipment must be obtained directly from the dog's primary care veterinary practice.

Monitoring during treatment

Dogs receiving treatment for osteoarthritis should be monitored by a veterinary surgeon to assess their response to treatment, mobility and overall clinical condition.

Management of osteoarthritis may also include additional strategies such as weight management, controlled exercise, physiotherapy and environmental modifications where appropriate.

Important information

Once available, Lenivia will only be supplied following receipt of a valid veterinary prescription.

Lenivia must not be used in dogs under 12 months of age, animals intended for breeding, or pregnant or lactating dogs.

Always use Lenivia exactly as prescribed by your veterinary surgeon.

Further information, including contraindications, warnings, precautions and potential adverse reactions, can be found in the official product data sheet available here.

Cold chain handling and delivery

Lenivia must be stored between 2–8°C and protected from freezing immediately on receipt.

All refrigerated medicines are dispatched using validated insulated packaging designed to maintain temperature stability for over 72 hours.

Orders are sent via Royal Mail Signed 24 and an adult must be available to receive the parcel.

If delivery is missed, delayed, redirected or left unattended, temperature integrity cannot be guaranteed. Once dispatched, the cost of refrigerated medicines cannot be refunded.

Cold-chain medicines are dispatched Monday to Thursday to avoid weekend transit delays.
