PRODUCT INFORMATION
Laxatract Syrup is a prescription-only veterinary medicine used for the management of constipation and conditions requiring stool softening in dogs and cats.
It contains lactulose, an osmotic laxative that works by drawing water into the bowel, softening faeces and promoting normal bowel movements. Laxatract is commonly prescribed for the management of constipation, obstipation, and in cases where softer stools are clinically indicated. It may also be used off-label as part of the medical management of porto-systemic shunts, where lactulose is prescribed to reduce ammonia absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, at the discretion of the prescribing veterinary surgeon.
Laxatract is supplied as an oral syrup and may be used short-term or long-term, depending on the animal’s condition and the clinical judgement of the prescribing veterinary surgeon.
This product is a prescription-only veterinary medicine (POM-V).
The dose, frequency, and duration of treatment are determined by the prescribing veterinary surgeon and will be provided on the dispensing label. Dosage is typically adjusted to effect and should be administered exactly as prescribed.
