What is Inflacam used for?

Inflacam is authorised for the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders in dogs.

Meloxicam may be prescribed by veterinary surgeons for dogs affected by painful inflammatory conditions involving the muscles, joints or other parts of the musculoskeletal system.

Your veterinary surgeon will determine whether Inflacam is suitable for your dog and which formulation and strength should be used.

What does Inflacam contain?

The active ingredient in Inflacam is meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

  • Inflacam 1mg Chewable Tablets: 1mg meloxicam per tablet
  • Inflacam 2.5mg Chewable Tablets: 2.5mg meloxicam per tablet
  • Inflacam Oral Suspension: 1.5mg meloxicam per ml

How is Inflacam given?

Inflacam should be administered exactly as directed by the prescribing veterinary surgeon.

The appropriate dose depends on your dog's bodyweight and clinical condition. Your veterinary surgeon will determine the required strength, formulation, dose and duration of treatment.

Do not alter the dose, change between formulations or discontinue treatment without first discussing this with your veterinary surgeon.

Important information

Inflacam is an NSAID and should not be administered at the same time as other NSAIDs or corticosteroids unless specifically directed by your veterinary surgeon.

Inflacam should not be used in dogs suffering from certain gastrointestinal, liver, heart or kidney conditions, or in dogs with bleeding disorders.

It should not be used in pregnant or lactating animals or in dogs with a known hypersensitivity to meloxicam or any of the ingredients in the medicine.

Inflacam should not be used in dogs younger than 6 weeks of age. Additional age and bodyweight restrictions may apply depending on the formulation and strength prescribed.

Monitoring during treatment

Dogs receiving meloxicam may require monitoring by their veterinary surgeon, particularly during longer-term treatment or where there are concerns regarding kidney, liver or gastrointestinal health.

Potential adverse effects associated with NSAIDs can include reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy and gastrointestinal irritation. If your dog becomes unwell while receiving Inflacam, stop administering the medicine and contact your veterinary surgeon for advice.
