PRODUCT INFORMATION
Benefortin is a veterinary prescription medication containing benazepril hydrochloride, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used in the management of cardiovascular and renal disease in dogs and cats. It works by reducing the formation of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, reduced blood pressure, and decreased workload on the heart.
In dogs, Benefortin is indicated for the treatment of congestive heart failure. In cats, it is used to reduce proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), helping to support renal function and long-term disease management.
Benefortin is available in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 20 mg strengths, allowing flexible dosing across a range of patient sizes. The tablets are flavoured to aid administration and are scored, enabling division into equal halves where required for dose adjustment.
As a licensed veterinary medicine, Benefortin has established safety, efficacy, and quality standards for use in animals. It is typically prescribed as part of a wider treatment plan, which may include additional cardiac or renal medications depending on the individual patient.
