AeroKat & AeroDawg Aerosol Chambers for Cats & Dogs

AeroKat and AeroDawg Aerosol Chambers are the original veterinary inhaler spacer systems from Trudell Animal Health, specifically designed and tested for administering inhaled medication to cats and dogs.

Unlike many cheaper generic copies and lookalike spacers available online, AeroKat and AeroDawg have been developed specifically for veterinary use and their performance has been evaluated in veterinary studies. Chamber design matters: differences in valves, masks, chamber materials and dimensions can affect how much medication is actually available for your pet to inhale.

For pets prescribed inhaled medication, AeroKat and AeroDawg provide a purpose-designed veterinary option rather than a generic human spacer or unvalidated copy.

Unlike people, pets cannot coordinate pressing an inhaler with taking a deep breath. The aerosol chamber holds the medication after the inhaler is activated, allowing your pet to breathe normally through the fitted mask and inhale the medication over several breaths.

Both AeroKat and AeroDawg chambers feature the Flow-Vu inhalation indicator, which moves as your pet breathes. This provides a visible indication that the mask has a suitable seal and helps you count your pet's breaths during treatment.

Choose the correct chamber

AeroKat – for cats
The AeroKat aerosol chamber is specifically designed for cats and kittens requiring inhaled medication. It may be used as part of a veterinary treatment plan for conditions such as feline asthma, chronic bronchitis and other respiratory conditions where inhaled therapy has been prescribed.

AeroDawg – for dogs
The AeroDawg aerosol chamber is specifically designed for dogs requiring inhaled medication. It may be recommended by a veterinary surgeon for conditions including chronic bronchitis, inflammatory airway disease and other respiratory conditions where inhaled medication is appropriate.

How do AeroKat and AeroDawg work?

The prescribed inhaler is inserted into the rear of the chamber and activated to release a dose of aerosol medication. The appropriately sized mask is then placed gently over the pet's nose and mouth, creating a seal.

Your pet can then breathe normally through the chamber. As they inhale, the Flow-Vu indicator moves, helping you monitor their breathing and administration technique.

Your veterinary surgeon will advise you how many breaths should be allowed following each activation of the inhaler and how frequently your pet's medication should be given.

AeroKat Aerosol Chamber

AeroKat is specifically designed for feline inhaled therapy and is commonly used alongside prescribed inhalers in cats with conditions such as:

• Other respiratory conditions where inhaled medication has been prescribed

AeroDawg chambers are available in different sizes to accommodate dogs of different sizes and facial shapes. Please select the appropriate option for your dog.

Using an inhaler with your pet

1. Shake your pet's prescribed inhaler as directed.
2. Insert the inhaler into the rear of the aerosol chamber.
3. Place the mask gently over your pet's nose and mouth, ensuring a comfortable seal.
4. Activate the inhaler as directed by your veterinary surgeon.
5. Watch the Flow-Vu indicator move as your pet breathes through the chamber.
6. Allow your pet to take the number of breaths recommended by your veterinary surgeon before removing the mask.

If your pet is frightened by the sound of the inhaler being activated, AeroKat and AeroDawg also allow the inhaler to be activated into the chamber immediately before applying the mask.

Getting your pet used to the chamber

Some pets need a little time to become comfortable with a mask being placed over their face. Introducing the chamber gradually, allowing your pet to investigate it and rewarding calm behaviour can make treatment significantly easier.

Initially, the mask can be introduced for very short periods without medication before gradually increasing the length of time it is held in position.

Important information

AeroKat and AeroDawg are drug delivery devices and do not contain medication. Any inhaler or respiratory medication must be prescribed and used according to the instructions of your veterinary surgeon.

Do not alter your pet's prescribed inhaler, dose or frequency of treatment without veterinary advice.

If your pet is experiencing significant breathing difficulty, open-mouth breathing, collapse, marked respiratory distress or blue/grey gums, seek urgent veterinary attention.
