PRODUCT INFORMATION

Advantage Spot-On is a topical flea treatment containing imidacloprid for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats, dogs and pet rabbits. After application to the skin, the medication spreads across the coat through the natural oils of the animal’s skin, rapidly killing adult fleas and helping to break the flea life cycle in the environment.

Imidacloprid works by affecting the nervous system of fleas, leading to paralysis and death. Because the medication acts through contact, fleas do not need to bite the pet to be affected. This makes Advantage a useful option for animals suffering from flea allergy dermatitis, where rapid flea control is particularly important.

Advantage is commonly used by veterinary surgeons as part of a monthly flea prevention programme for pets living in environments where fleas are present. The treatment is applied as a simple spot-on pipette to the skin and typically provides protection for around four weeks.

Advantage is classified in the UK as NFA-VPS (Non-Food Animal – Veterinarian, Pharmacist or Suitably Qualified Person). This means it does not require a veterinary prescription, but it must be supplied by a veterinary surgeon, pharmacist or appropriately qualified SQP who can advise on its safe and appropriate use.

Advantage spot-on treatments are available in several pipette sizes so the correct dose can be selected according to the animal’s body weight. When used according to the product instructions, Advantage provides effective flea control for cats, dogs and rabbits.
